Who are we?
The Fitz is an iconic institution in the heart of Melbourne’s famous suburb of Fitzroy, beloved by generations of locals.
It is hard to miss with its signature bronze sign spearing out on to Brunswick Street and its lush canopy shading brunch goers and coffee sippers.
Originally known as The Fitz – Fruit & Juicery, it transformed into The Fitz Café in 1986 and today proudly known as The Fitz Café & Rooftop.
Popularly renowned as one of Melbourne's longest-running cafes, The Fitz is known for our diversly delicious menu, our friendly staff and chic dining spaces. Our newly renovated indoor and outdoor dining spaces are perfect for any celebration, so come and join us for a coffee or a cocktail, a boozy brunch or a delicious dinner, in our cafe, restaurant or rooftop!
Café
The Fitz cafe and restaurant menu comprises of a range of both light and hearty meals for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Whatever you’re in the mood for, we have you sorted.
Outdoor
The Fitz is known for having the largest outdoor area on the street. The large tree acts as a natural shade from the sun in summer and rain in the summer.
Perfect for those that enjoy being outdoors while watching the world go by.
Rooftop
Hidden above our Cafe, our rooftpp has a state of the art retractable roof that is ready for any weather.

“I've been a customer for many years. The Fitz never fails to deliver on food, service and atmosphere. Although it was a hot day, we sat outside under the large and shady plane tree.
Water and glasses were promptly placed on our table. The waitress wiped the table, provided menus and left us to ruminate upon what to order. I had the 'greens with a poached egg'. My friend had calamari which she declared was delicious. Wine by the glass is reasonably priced.
Over the 20 years or so that I have been a patron, I've never had a meal that I haven't enjoyed. Prices have risen but not exorbitantly. We both ate and drank for under $60. Highly recommended.”
